May 26, 2023 (La Mesa) An agent with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency shot and killed a dog at a Mesa resident on Tuesday, May 23, after the dog attacked an agent.

Agents were conducting a search warrant for narcotics at the home at 4870 Harbison Avenue. The search resulted in the arrest of four men. The DEA has not disclosed the charges.

In a statement to NBC San Diego, DEA Public Affairs Specialist Kelly McKay said,”In an effort to minimize the threat to human life, the dog was shot and did not survive.”
